Why Should You Use VPN While Downloading Torrents?

Downloading movies using BitTorrent might get you in some serious trouble. Recently in the news there was a case about a production house filing suits against a thousands of users who downloaded its movie illegally from the site. Really, it's something which affects every one of us.

We all know how easy it is to download a free movie from internet nowadays. But getting sued for the same is really an eye opener.

ISPs in the country might have trouble with such production houses which seek a way to earn big bucks by suing sites like torrent and its users. Unlike big budgeted movies small movie production houses try to earn the maximum out of filing suits in the courts against the open source sites which provide easy access to online users to get the certain movies downloaded.

But suing the users is not going to solve the problem. First and foremost the production houses should stop making their movies available to such sites. That is there duty to protect there content from such public spots online. Sites like BitTorrent are made for this. They have to share content to the users, unless there wouldn't be any traffic at all. Letting the movie freely available in the site through torrents is the combined effort of the production house and the site both.

Thus they should make sure whether to let the movie available on site or not, because users are always interested in free stuff online, no matter it is legal or illegal.

Of course, where there is a problem there is (almost) always a solution. In this case, the solution is called VPN (Virtual Private Network). The basic idea of a VPN is that it creates an ecrypted channel between your computer and the VPN server. When you download a file from a torrent site using a VPN, the file goes firstly to the VPN server and from there is redirected to you through the encrypted channel. The ISPs are not able to identify the source and the content of your download.

Using a VPN service while downloading from different sites is a good idea as it protects your real online identity (IP address) and thus, protects you from getting sued. Here is a list of VPN service that allow P2p/Torrent traffic.

Don’t get too excited! VPNs offer good protection, but it does not make the downloads legal!
