Tor Project Awarded for the Role in Middle East Revolutions Posted: 11 Apr 2011 03:29 AM PDT
We all know that Internet's role in politics can revolutionise the whole world. The Tor project was used as a platform to give the world a chance to speak out their hearts out and say what is right. The anonymity feature of the software made a million online users utilise the opportunity to speak the right thing without any threat of officials and the dictators. Anonymous browsing clearly helps the users to report abuses of power happening around them. The FSF writes that "Tor has enabled roughly 36 million people around the world to experience freedom of access and expression on the Internet while keeping them in control of their privacy and anonymity. Its network has proved pivotal in dissident movements in both Iran and more recently Egypt." This excellent free software, as well as other online anonymity tools, has literally changed the life of millions of people who were previously living under the fear and suppression of the dictators. Governments in countries from North African and Middle East tried to censor online applications like Twitter and Facebook and for a while they succeeded in doing so. But Tor project was successfully used to bypass the blocks to let the revolutions continue and take a definite shape. Post from: How to hide ip Related Posts: |
